About the Author

Colleen Hildebrand is a native and lifetime resident of Louisiana. Spending nearly all of her life in classrooms, Colleen has learned invaluable lessons, one of which is that no one can teach anyone anything. She believes learning lies in the perception of the student, so she knows that as a "teacher," she is at best a presenter, a questioner, a facilitator, a partner in conversation.

Le Bovier met Colleen through artist, Katie Darling, a longtime partner of ours, whose prophetic eye recognized the similarities in our philosophies of life and learning. Thanks to our darling maven, we are now publishing Colleen’s debut, In the Ether: A Memoir of Holding Space, a meta-memoir that speaks far beyond the space and time it encapsulates.

Colleen takes readers through a remarkable journey of synchronicity, as unfathomable coincidences unfold to guide her through two relationships: one with her newly adult daughter, and the other, a young man with whom she forges a profound bond after his past trauma culminates into a single act of violence. The story is a true one about the paradoxical process of personal and spiritual growth, about learning to embrace the disorienting experiences of life — the traumas, the failures, the judgments, the violations of hopeful expectations, and the awe-inspiring coincidences imbued with meaning — through self-reflection and selfless love, in order to grow beyond the limiting confines of human instinct.
